Younger Than You Think/Seamus Hārden
Seamus is one of the people who initially abducts Iriña Blake in Younger Than You Think. He is part of the Acquisitions department of a company called Forever Baby.
White, male, late thirties. Married to Sylvie Hārden.
He seriously believes that he is a good person. His cousin Nicky (who is actually older than Seamus – although he never emotionally processed this) was born with a rare genetic disorder which caused him to look like a toddler until his mid thirties. Nicky was bullied right through school, and suffered a nervous breakdown in university because nobody respected him. He essentially used his disability as a scapegoat for everything that went wrong in his life. But in Seamus's mind, Nicky was a child who was forced to go to university by society's expectations, and broke down because he had to fill an adult role when he wasn't old enough.
Seamus judges people based more on their looks than their actual age. So when he sees someone who looks like a child acting as an adult, regardless of their actual age, he can't help thinking that they are a child, and he believes that any desire to be treated as adults is just internalised from the pressure that's put on them. So he sees himself as 'rescuing' these kids, giving them the happy life that they would really want if they were allowed to accept it.
