A Little Attention/Jacob
The main character of A Little Attention, Jacob is an ordinary kid close to graduating high school. He has a variety of normal hobbies, but at the start of the story he can't do most of them because he's been grounded. Sees himself as a rebel, but has never really hurt anyone. Has been grounded at the start over "a disagreement with some stupid mall cop with a stick up his ass".
The only thing he really cares about is the school's sportsball team. He takes the team a lot more seriously than his actual studies. His friends are all on the team, and since he joined his motivation seems to have rubbed off from others. He's taken them from struggling, to having a real shot at the championship.

Other Versions
In the original version of the story (in the Plot Babies book), Jacob is a girl named Julia. He was turned male when I started writing it and realised that all of my recent stories have a female main character.
