Skein/Todd's Diary
The diary is a "little book, a brick of bible-thin pages bound in soft black leather". The pages look like a standard business diary, with occasional meetings noted down and doodles in the margin. There is a pen clipped inside the spine, so he's never short of one. There is no key for the lock (or if there is, one of his employers has it), but the lock can be made to spring open by running a finger along the edges of the cover in the right place with the right pressure.
Todd has trained himself to write in it every night (no matter how tired), making notes that he might need in order to know where he is in case he wakes up as a younger self. One of the most common uses is for recording the name of whoever he's staying with after he hooks up with someone in a bar. He feels that in order to avoid suspicion he needs to at least know a name, what attracted him to this guy, and if it meant anything to him.
